American tennis sensation Sloane Stephens hinted she would quit tennis the day she won her second Grand Slam title.
Stevens started his tennis career in 2009 and reached the Grand Slam main draw at Roland Garros two years later. However, it took another six years before she won a major.
Stevens defeated compatriot Madison Keys in the 2017 US Open final to win the women’s singles trophy. A few months later, she almost won the 2018 French Open, but she fell short to Simona Halep in the championship match.
Since then, Stevens has not been able to make it past the quarterfinals, let alone win a Grand Slam. Most recently, she lost in the third round at the 2024 Australian Open.
Sloane Stephens appeared on an episode of Cinema Sessions during the Melbourne Slam and she reiterated that she still has goals to achieve. But the 30-year-old added that once she won her second Grand Slam title, she would call it a day.
“I feel like there’s more, there’s more. But let me tell you this: If I win a Grand Slam, I’ll never play tennis again. This will be the last time, ‘See you later.'” I’m going to say, y’all, I’m going to stop doing this,” Sloane Stevens said. (around 1:50)
