A burglar who stole more than £1,300 worth of Pokémon cards and headphones has been jailed.

Mark Flynn broke into HMV in Don caster by breaking the door, an act that cost the store an additional £1,000 in repairs.

Mr. Flynn, 41, of no fixed abode, pleaded guilty to robbery and was sentenced to six months in prison at Don caster Magistrates’ Court on January 26.

He was one of three “prolific” retail offenders in Don caster to be jailed within a week, South Yorkshire Police said.

Serial shoplifter Christopher Becker was also jailed for 12 weeks for stealing £240 worth of chocolates from a Co-op store in Arm Thorpe.

Mr. Becker, 43, of Cardigan Road, Intake, was searched twice in five days before being identified and arrested by the store manager and police officers.

He was sentenced at Don caster Magistrates’ Court on February 2.

Meanwhile, Neil Burns was sentenced to six months in prison for stealing a £30 bottle of vodka from a Balby newsagents. Mr. Burns, 41, of Furnivall Road, Balby, was captured on CCTV asking for a bottle behind the register before leaving the store without paying.

He was sentenced at Don caster Magistrates’ Court on January 26.

Sergeant Steve Roberts said: “We are working hard to tackle retail crime here in Don caster, particularly in areas where retail crime is high in the city Centre.”

“All of these criminals were convicted of theft in 2023 and arrested for committing the same crime again.
“I hope this prison sentence sends a clear message that people cannot steal from their local stores with impunity.”
